The Year in Review – July 2012

Cardamom bun from Peter's Yard

July was another busy one, with trips to the newly opened Pomegranate and Yummytori. Neither one was that thrilling, though.

We had really enjoyable Indian food at Guchhi, on Commercial Street. It served us wonderfully flavour-packed dishes at a very reasonable cost, so is well worthy of a visit.

I finally made it along to Peter’s Yard, and was impressed, although I don’t have quite the love for it that MJ does.

Soup and sandwich from the Edinburgh Larder

La Garrigue, on Jeffrey Street was very good, with their highly impressive onion soup a real winner.

Most popular review of the month was the Edinburgh Larder, where I sampled more exceptionally good soup.

A modest wee place, my visit was around the time they branched out with a new bistro, of which more in next month’s review.

The Larder is one of my favourite lunch spots in the city centre, and always near the top of recommendation lists when people are looking for something simple and healthy.
