Salmon from Brasserie de Luxe

November was our first month where we posted a review every day, which was no small feat.

We had a lovely dim sum meal at Stack, which is a great wee place, on Dalmeny Street. We also had excellent repeat visits to Mithas and to the Purslane, the latter for their anniversary tasting menu, where we celebrated MJ’s PhD, some more.

Piemaker, Foodies at Holyrood and BBL were towards the lower end of the enjoyment spectrum, but it was generally a pretty decent month.

Mr Frango's Grill

Most popular review was the unassuming Mr Frango’s Grill, a Portuguese grilled chicken place. It didn’t really float my boat, but I guess we were the first to review it, so it attracted a bit of interest.

The highlight was definitely Galvin’s Brasserie de Luxe, at the Caledonian Hotel. Their salmon main course has solid claims on being the best single plate of food I ate all year, and I really like what they’ve done with the place. I look forward to visiting regularly in 2013.
