The Year in Review – June 2012

We managed twenty six reviews in June, making it our busiest month, so far.

Fish Thali from Punjab'n de Rasoi

We ended the month with an excellent return visit to Mithas, where we introduced MJ’s family to the delights of Edinburgh finest Indian food.

Other highlights from the month included the wonderful Bon Vivant, Red Onion in Glasgow, the friendly ambience of L’Escargot Blanc, and great lunchtime Indian delights at Punjab’n de Rasoi.

Piatto Verde was one of the highlights of 2012, particularly for MJ, who loves her Italian food. The place is an absolute gem, and one you should seek out, soon.

Soup from Castello Coffee

I first visited Castello Coffee in June. It has since become my regular coffee spot, as the coffee is excellent. The soup is damn good, too.

Lowlight of the month was Monteith’s, which marked my personal lowest light of the year, as they served me two woefully poor dishes.

Most popular review was that following a rather unexpected trip to the excellent Wedgwood. It’s a place I’ve since revisited, following this dazzling introduction, where the pea and ham soup with pork fillet and black pudding was a standout starter. For fine dining lunchtime value, this place is hard to beat, so I’d heartily recommend you make time to visit in 2013.
