After finding that the new burger place called Burger was not yet ready for paying customers (it opened on Thursday 27 February, I believe) I found myself on Fountainbridge in need of a burger. I popped along the road to Lock 25 to give their version a try.

Their house burger sounded like a monster with a beef, chicken or bean burger topped with camembert, onion, bacon, and a breaded field mushroom. I opted for the beef.

The place is a pretty standard pub set up. They have a decent array of beers and ales and it’s neat and tidy inside.

The burger was soon with me looking as hefty as expected. The generous amount of camembert and crunch from the breaded mushroom pleased me very much, but the burger was too lean, dry and crumbly for my tastes. The chips although rather pale were very tasty.

So overall, I thought Lock 25 was pretty decent. I got the impression that the menu holds some potentially very good dishes. The burger wasn’t really one of them, but I’d be keen to visit again and have another try as some of the elements were quite impressive.
