November 6, 2013 Breakfast, Glasgow No Comments

Another Glasgow trip, another quickly grabbed breakfast on the go. Today’s visit took me to Cafe Fresh, on Renfield Street.

The place isn’t the most glamorous I’ve ever visited, and a rather heavy sky did nothing to brighten things, either inside or out, but the smiling counter woman brought a friendly ray of sunshine, with her warm greeting.

I was in breakfast roll mood, opting for a bacon and black pudding “doubler”. I didn’t need coffee, as I’d just come from nearby Laboratorio Espresso, which is a great new addition to the Glasgow city centre coffee scene. I will write something more about them, next time I’m in town.

With roll in hand, I was on my way. It proved to be up there with the best breakfast rolls I’ve had, of late. The roll itself was wonderfully crisp, and the filling was profuse and tasty. It set me up most effectively for the day ahead.

So overall, while Cafe Fresh doesn’t look the most inviting place to dine, I found their roll impressively good. I’d be happy to pop back, and would be pleased to point you in their direction, for a quick breakfast on the go.
