East Meets West

I’d been given a tip that Gorgie Road’s East Meets West was a pretty good spot for breakfast rolls. On a lazy Saturday I strolled there to investigate.

The welcome was exceedingly warm with the counter folks full of good cheer and banter. They were just putting some new fish in their fish tank so much joy was abounding.

My food requirements were pretty simple: a hearty breakfast roll to eat on the go. I opted for haggis and bacon. This was cooked to order while I waited in their small cafe space which has some counter seats. The majority of their business is done as takeaway, though.

My item was soon with me and I toddled back down the road towards Haymarket.

The roll could have been a touch fresher, but the profuse and well-prepped filling more than made up for that. It was really satisfying eating and just what I was after.

So overall, I thought East Meets West was a highly charming little takeaway offering good value grub. I’d be happy to visit again and next time might give one of their burgers a go. Give it a try next time a filling hot roll is what you’re needing.
