Gordon Street Coffee

It’s always great to see new coffee roasteries springing up. I hear plans afoot in Edinburgh to add to our small number of places roasting their own in the coming months, which is exciting news.

When Gordon Street Coffee launched last year as a small batch roaster in the heart of Glasgow, I was intrigued and immediately paid it a visit.

Sadly, despite a number of visits since then, I still can’t get to grips with their coffee. Their house blend just doesn’t float my boat and I don’t think they make their espresso particularly well.

Still, they serve food so today I decided to stop in, have some breakfast and give the coffee another go. Still no dice on the coffee front, I’m afraid.

I ordered a link sausage roll with brown sauce, as is often my way. The friendly counter folks soon delivered this on a smart little plate.

This proved really good eating with high quality sausages on a fresh morning roll. I was very pleased with it.

So overall, I like Gordon Street’s schtick, the smart interior and I was impressed with their breakfast roll. I’d like to love their coffee but so far I just don’t. I’ll keep trying, though.
