The place is very pink both inside and out. It specialises in cakes of various shapes and sizes. They offer a small savoury menu featuring burgers, all day breakfasts, soups and paninis. I opted to try the latter two items.
After a short pause while things were prepared the two arrived together. The cheese and tomato panini came accompanied by a crisp salad. It was simple but rather good with a good amount of tangy cheese. The soup was pretty good, too. It was a rustic vegetable mix with plenty of sweet fragrance coming through from carrots and parsnips.
So overall, Melinda’s did the job very nicely. This wasn’t ground-breaking stuff but everything was prepared with care and attention. Cakes are where their heart is, but they looked after an ardent savouryist will admirable consideration. I do wonder about their long-term sustainability in their current location, but I’d happily pop back next time I’m in the neighbourhood.Scores
