Oqo Coffee Nook
One of the key findings from my travelling time was that Edinburgh is very well served for cafes and top notch coffee relative to most of the places I visited.
The topography of our compact city lends itself to concentrated bursts of hospitality clusters but even factoring that in we have great quality across many hotspots.
Oqo Coffee Nook on Haddington Place brings another highly promising place to add to our roster.
Serving Brazilian coffees roasted locally – in the Biscuit Factory no less – by Santu, I sampled a bright and fruity espresso (£1.90) on a recent visit.
With welcoming premises, which I think were previously Nordic Affar, and a good list of light bites, cakes and snacks, this looks to be a very welcome addition to this part of town.
It serves to bridge the gap between the likes of Artisan Roast on Broughton Street and either Little Fiztroy on Easter Road or The Shore with Williams & Johnson at Custom Lane, depending on which direction you are wandering.
I very much enjoyed my brief visit and will be back for another look when next in the neighbourhood. I suggest you do the same.
