That’s Amore
Auckland!
Having safely landed and checked into my apartment for the week, I was in need of something inexpensive and substantial so I resolved to find as good pizza as the environs afforded. I quickly hit upon That’s Amore which was just a short stroll away.
Promising Neapolitan style pizzas alongside the odd pasta special, the menu was brief and to the point, although the selection of different pizza topping combos was vast.
I was intrigued by their carbonara pizza which offered a white base topped with egg, bacon and onion in a tribute to the classic pasta dish.
This was prepped and fired to order and with me very promptly.
The base was light and pillowy with an airy crumb that retained a good chew to it. Toppings were good, too, although I could have lived without the raw red onions. It was just the hearty pizza feast that I was needing.
So overall, That’s Amore did a fine job of attending to my first night hunger in Auckland. It’s an unprepossessing little spot buried behind what looks to be a busy restaurant district. It’s slightly in the realms of no-frills but the pizza is of a quality that’s worth seeking out. I enjoyed my visit muchly.
