After a stroll through the city to work up a lunchtime appetite, I found myself in Stockbridge which is a generally good neighbourhood to be hungry in.

I spotted Tasti, which has been trading for a few months, and popped in to give it a try.

The interior is quite simply appointed with banquettes and tables seating for around twenty.

The menu is a mix of informal options that mix pub grub with diner classics. I took a while to explore the options eventually settling on their burger with a side of macaroni cheese.

Things were prepped to order and promptly arrived, delivered by the affable waiter.

The ratio of bun to burger was a little too strongly in favour of the bread which was a shame as the meat had good flavour and succulence. It came accompanied by regulation fries and a decent slaw.

The mac and cheese had a good cheesy crust, but was a little watery and underseasoned, beneath.

So overall, with a few tweaks Tasti could develop into a very good little diner eatery. It feels slightly incongruous in Stockbridge – I suspect it would be a student favourite if it were over in the heart of the Old Town – but I think it brings something different to this neighbourhood so looks like it will do well. Give it a visit when next you are in these parts.
