Good & Proper

When visiting Tasti the other day, I spotted Good & Proper Deli just over the road and made a mental note to give it a look next time I was in these parts. On a day when sheltering from April showers was a priority, I popped in to check it out.

A narrow, bright and airy space, it has a similar feel to the Pastry Section just a few doors down.

The emphasis of their menu is a little more on savoury items which suited me nicely. As well as a good selection of fresh salads, I spotted hand-crafted sausage rolls and a couple of tempting looking quiches.

I seem to be in quite the quiche mood of late having sampled good versions at The Mill and Noir amongst other places. I opted to give their roasted cauliflower and Tobermory cheese version a try and added a mix of their salads as an accompaniment.

Quiche and salads

This was delivered to me a one of their half dozen or so tables and looked fresh and vibrant.

The quiche proved very good with a lightly crisp pastry and flavourful filling. I’m a big cauliflower fan and this was a great use of this most excellent of vegetables.

The salads ranged from puy lentil to buckwheat noodle to bulgar wheat to dill potatoes. It was a lovely selection.

So overall, I was impressed Good & Proper. It felt very settled and assured considering it has only been open a matter of weeks. I enjoyed everything I ate and would be glad to return for more. Give it a visit at your earliest convenient opportunity.
