The Cafe by Benugo

Glasgow continues to grow on me with practically every visit. I hadn’t been in town for a while so was glad to head west on a bright midweek morning.

I arrived a little ahead of schedule for a lunchtime coffee meeting with loyal Lunchquest reader Ian. Our rendezvous point was The Cafe by Benugo which forms part of the Buchanan Galleries branch of John Lewis.

I hadn’t had such fun with the great never-knowingly-undersold branch in Edinburgh, but was willing to give them another go.

I was in soupy mood once more so was glad to see a mention of goulash soup. I ordered a portion of that from the slightly disorganised counter people.

Taking up station at one of their booth seats which looks out of the expanse of the shopping centre I tucked in.

It proved a very good hearty eat. Goulash soup is always a good one for using odds and sods offcuts of meaty dishes. It’s a staple of steakhouses. This was a very enjoyable version.

I did subsequently try their espresso but let’s leave that for another day when I’m in a less cheerful mood.

So overall, I was pleased to find The Cafe by Benugo serving such good quality soup. It’s a smart spot with a comfortable feel to it and a pretty good spot for a relaxed city centre catch-up. I’d be happy to visit again.
