Tasty Buns Bakery

Tasty Buns Bakery took over a really awkward spot at the top of Bread Street a wee while back and have been trading to appreciative acclaim since then.

Exterior

I’ve visited a couple of times but mainly just for a quick espresso. They have a bespoke blend from Mr Eion which they generally make to very good effect.

They’ve recently expanded their range of kitchen whatnots with a view to doing more baking on site so this means scones fresh from the oven. I was there like a shot to try their cheese variety.

Scone

The welcome was typically warm from owner Louise. I had time to sit-in today in their long, narrow cafe premises. It has a simple red and white aestehtic and has a relaxing feel.

With cheese scone and espresso ordered, I took a seat. Both items were soon with me with the scone looking very bonnie.

Espresso

Served with butter, it was beautifully warm so the fat melted satisfyingly. The scone had a light crispness and the inside was nicely soft and crumbly. It was very good indeed.

So overall, I was delighted to find such excellent scones now on offer at Tasty Buns Bakery. It’s a crackin’ wee shop that I keep meaning to visit more often. They do, of course, serve a range of sweet delights too, but it’s on a quest for more cheese scones that you’ll find me visiting many times in the future.
