It was Friday night and I was home after a long week at the salt mines. I figured some Chinese food might be a good plan so with phone in hand I ordered from Tiger Lin, a nearby takeaway in Roseburn.
I’d not had food from there before but the menu held all the expected whatnots so I proceeded along my usual Chinese takeaway pattern.
I opted for the inevitable mixed starters for two (after toying with the idea of trying their munchy box), then added chicken and mushroom soup, special chow mein, and lamb with ginger and spring onion.
The delivery man was soon enough knocking at the door and regular guest quester Anne and I were tucking in.
With the exception of the ribs, which were pretty weak, everything was delivered to a very good standard.
The soup was a light and aromatic broth packed with delicious chicken pieces. The wings in the starter box were brightly seasoned. The prawn toast was the best we’ve had in a long while.
The noodles had a good mix of meats and the lamb dish was really good. We were impressed.
So overall, Tiger Lin is one of the better Chinese takeaways I’ve had of late. The inevitable leftovers did a good job for Saturday breakfast also. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend to you next time you’re looking for Chinese nosh.
Sadly, this was pretty much the last meal that Anne – my mother – and I shared as she died a few days later. I’m glad it was one we both enjoyed so much.
