View from Restaurant 100
November packed in a wide variety of different places.
Highlights were Redwood Bistro and Field Grill House, both of which were great examples of how really thoughtful and well-executed dishes are at the heart of all restaurants of real quality.
We have very good meals at Annabelle’s, Akva, Caffe e Cucina, Restaurant 100, and The Tartan Stag.
Pizza and Rolex at Caffe e Cucina
The Milkman and Energy Lab provided coffee experiences of entirely different natures, but both were high quality.
We very much enjoyed a visit to Glasgow’s Fire in Babylon, and in Edinburgh much entertainment was provided by O Canto Do Passerinho and Comet Foodbites.
And then there was the Feast of the First Frost, delivered by Russell Smith and David Crabtree Logan, which was the absolute standout meal of 2015. A magnificent multi-course dinner, served in Russell’s commercial kitchen in the heart of Granton, this was a spectacular showcase of local produce, delivered to the highest of standards. I look forward to future events from Russell and David in 2016.
The Place to Eat, John Lewis’s in-store cafe, was staggering poor, but that was a rare bum note in an otherwise rather enjoyable month.
