We’d visited Amarone right at the start of both our and its existence, back in 2011. While the score total didn’t really speak of thrills, it’s a place we rather enjoyed and indeed visited quite a number of times in the following months. I recently noticed they offered breakfast, so when I was passing and in need I thought I’d give things a try.

The first time we visited, one of the abiding memories was the Enrique Iglesias soundtrack. Thankfully things were slightly more in the realms of pleasant background music today, which entirely suited the early hour.

Breakfast

The place remains very smart and stylish. I took a seat at one of the booths in the bar dining area. It was comfortable and very good for early morning sipping and nibbling.

Their breakfast selection offered both continental and classic British options. I opted for scrambled eggs on toast. I favoured tea (which was thrown in as part of the cost of the egg dish, I subsequently discovered – nice touch) over coffee as I fancied some Dear Green from Pep & Fodder which I duly acquired on the subsequent short trot to my office.

The eggs soon arrived with three good chunks of toast. The eggs were well seasoned and nicely soft. I like scrambled just a touch runnier but I know that strikes fear into the heart of many so this seemed a very pleasing compromise consistency.

So overall, Amarone continues to do very fine work and their breakfast offering hit the spot. I’d be happy to point you in its direction and I must come back again for pizza, at some stage. I look forward to that.
