Eventually I will find the time for a more leisurely trip to Glasgow that involves a relaxed lunch at one of their many fine eateries, but for now the great Glasgow breakfast quest remains in full flow.

Today’s swift stop took me to Charlie Brown’s in the city centre. A spacious little below street level place, their focus is on simple and hearty fare. For the reference of those with a sweet tooth they seemed amply stocked with tablet and macaroons as well as a full range of Tunnock’s treats.

My breakfast requirement was a substantial roll so I opted to match bacon with scrambled eggs. This was swiftly prepared in the back once my order had been taken by the friendly counter man.

With the financial transaction completed I was soon on my way out into the lightly rainy morning air, pausing for the necessary snapshot before tucking in.

The roll was of the delightfully fresh morning variety and the filling was substantial. The nicely crisped bacon packed good flavour although the eggs could have been more strongly seasoned. It made for good eating.

So overall, Charlie Brown’s looks to be a decent little place for a breakfast roll. I was tickled to see sandwiches made up on plain bread, presumably for making into toasties. It took me back to my childhood in an instant. I’d happily pop back next time I’m looking for a quick morning bite.
