After an evening drinking Barista Espresso Stout (tasty, but ultimately evil), I was in need of a morning meal that packed a punch. After a wee stop to check out newly opened Machina Espresso, I adjourned over the road to the Yellow Deli for a full-on breakfast feast.

The welcome was friendly and full of helpful advice. My face painted the picture, so the charming counter man was soon about the preparation of all the items at his disposal. He ran me through things, and with a little switcheroo so I got both black pudding and haggis, rather than just either/or and beans, we were on track. A large cup of tea (bag in) was swiftly delivered and greatly appreciated.

The main event was soon with me, complete with toasted roll and lashings of brown sauce. It looked good and proved to be plenty tasty enough. The lorne sausage was particularly good, and it’s always good to see a tattie scone gracing the breakfast plate.

So overall, I was pleased with my trip to the Yellow Deli. It’s a nicely appointed spot, and the chap that runs it does a great job in making you welcome. The value on offer is good, too, so it’s a grand spot for a hearty feed.
