Taste at Buchanan Galleries

Taste Buchanan is a really grand new idea to revamp the Buchanan Galleries food court by populating it with fresh and creative street food options. Run by nationwide market operators Streetdots, the plan is to showcase a regularly cycling array of traders across a space with room for six at any one time.

On my visit the line-up was BRGR, Surf Dogs, Nomad Pizza, Paige for cakes, Union Waffles, and the splendid folks from Chompsky.

Chompsky are the best street food guys I’ve come across in Glasgow so I couldn’t resist giving their menu a try. The core of their offering is gua bao but given I was likely to be pizzaing for main course ‎I opted for their crisp chilli salt squid side (£4) instead.

This was a generous portion and was delivered to their usual power-packed standard. It was first class.

I did indeed opt for pizza to follow but with Nomad’s menu promising a thin and crisp base I was confident it would be within my eating compass.

I opted for the mushroom, gorgonzola and truffle oil version. Cooked in their impressively flamey oven it was ready in a matter of moments.

It was another absolute winner of a dish. It was the best street food pizza I’ve been served and right up their with Paesano as the best pizza I’ve had in Glasgow

So overall, Taste at Buchanan Galleries is doing really impressive work. I knew Chompsky would be fantastic but Nomad joins the pantheon of five-star street food with their excellent pizzas. This is a fantastic city centre lunch option so I look forward to seeing you there soon.
