Kasbah

I’d had a couple of near misses with Kasbah, a little takeaway shop bridging Indian and Italian cuisines on Marchmont Road, recently but had timed things just a little incorrectly.

Despite my best endeavours to continue that run, I managed to arrive about ten minutes before they closed this time so had a chance to give their food a go.

As I say, their menu is part Indian, with a broad range of curries and other classics, next to a pizza selection. My eye was caught by a Kiev pizza, which brought together garlic butter, chicken and mushrooms.

The friendly counter chaps were soon about the task of freshly preparing things. After the requisite cooking time, my item was with me.

The chicken had a bright yellow tikka hue to it, but despite being visually arresting was rather dry and disappointing.

Otherwise, this was a pretty good pizza with a lightly crisp base. It made for good eating.

So overall, I’m not sure I saw Kasbah to best advantage but it still looks to be a decently good takeaway option. I’ll maybe give one of their curries a go on a future visit as perhaps that’s where their real strength lies.
