Eastern Spices

Naan

Naan

I’m really glad that Deliveroo are getting on so well in Edinburgh, but it’s sadly a service that doesn’t fit me too well. Not only do I very rarely use delivery services, but I’ve visited every restaurant that Deliveroo have signed up, while things like Hungry House offer a huge variety of places I’ve not tried. I’m sure others will make great use of it, though.

One of Hungry House’s Indian options is Eastern Spices, in Canonmills, about which I’d heard lots of good things. I decided to give them a whirl when I was recently feeling full of the cold and thoroughly miserable at the end of a very busy week.

Rice

I kept to a fairly familiar pattern, with a chana puri starter, a lamby main course, some saag aloo, mushroom rice and garlic naan. This came to £19.20.

The bag of goodies arrived well within the projected delivery time window and everything was in good order.

Lamb

Lamb

The chana puri, saag aloo and naan were good without setting pulses racing, but the lamb was first rate and the mushroom pilau was the surprise highlight. Both of the latter dishes were replete with whole spices and packed wonderfully aromatic flavours. I enjoyed them, muchly.

So overall, I was very pleased with the quality on offer from Eastern Spices. The good things I’d heard about the place were entirely substantiated by this evening’s experience. I’d be happy to recommend it to you and would order from them again.
