Ken & Co

With continued train shenanigans in between Edinburgh and Glasgow, I’ve seen parts of the world I never even knew existed, recently. After another such magical mystery tour, this time sadly not including the wondrous land called Coatbridge Sunnyside, I found myself in Glasgow in need of breakfast, which was hardly an unfamiliar feeling. I toddled to Ken & Co on West Regent Street to give their wares a try

A basement cafe in a similar style to nearby 278, I found the place quiet but very neat and tidy. The friendly counter woman took my order, which today was for a black pudding and scrambled egg roll. I added an espresso, but it wasn’t up to much.

With the filling cooked to order, the roll was soon with me, topped with brown sauce as per my usual requirement.

It proved pleasingly good eating with nicely seasoned eggs and a good slice of black pudding. The roll itself was fresh and crisp, so it all made for an enjoyable eating experience.

So overall, Ken & Co is doing solidly good work. Their lunchtime selection, which heavily features quesadillas, looks worth checking out, and I was pleased with what I had from their breakfast menu. And at £2.80 for coffee and a roll, it was definitely in the cheerfully cheap bracket, too.
