Fisher & Donaldson

On another sunny but chill weekday morning, I boarded a northbound train at a ridiculously early hour, soon arriving in Dundee in a state of considerable peckishness. I toddled from the station to Fisher & Donaldson on Whitehall Street, where it’s traded since 1919.

I visited a few years ago and remember their breakfast rolls rather fondly, so given it was at that mealtime hour that I was visiting once more, I was more than pleased to renew acquaintances.

Their premises have some smart detailing, whilst retaining an informal cafe feel. I took a seat at one of their half a dozen or so tables after placing my order for a link sausage roll and pot of tea.

The place is predominantly a bakery takeaway, but also handmakes chocolates and other sweet treats. When my items arrived they were accompanied by a little chocolate stamped with their branding, which was a nice touch.

The roll proved to be rather tasty, with a soft fresh roll filled with two decent sausages. It was made for enjoyable early morning eating.

So overall, it was lovely to be back in Dundee and good to visit Fisher & Donaldson, once more. It’s a good little spot for a quick morning stop, so I look forward to visiting again when next I’m in these parts.
