Rumbletums, on Queen Charlotte Street, had been on my list for a visit for a wee while, so I was glad to have an early morning opportunity to pop in.

I wasn’t previously aware of the place’s Dutch influence. The owners run “Dutch Day” every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, where you can sample such delights from their home cooking culture as a meatball roll with peanut-butter sauce. Intriguing stuff.

I stuck to a Scottish classic with a brown sauce-topped haggis roll. This was freshly prepared to order.

After the expected short wait, I was on my way with roll in hand. I munched as I walked.

It proved to be one of the better haggis rolls I’ve had, of late. The profuse peppery filling made for tasty eating and the morning roll was fresh and lightly crisp. I enjoyed it, muchly.

So overall, Rumbletums is a very good place for a breakfast roll and is home to hidden Dutch delights. I look forward to visiting again on the right day of the month for Dutch Day treats.
