Delish

With breakfast places on my routine route to work largely exhausted, I took a slight detour to encompass Delish, a little sandwich bar on Dalry Road.

I’d visited briefly last year for the purposes of espresso sampling. It hadn’t been up to much, in that regard, but I was optimistic that their breakfast fare would be more enticing.

With a good range of breakfast roll options, I quickly settled upon their breakfast sub, which comprised sausage, bacon, fried egg and mushrooms.

The welcoming counter man was soon about his task, preparing items across a range of heating appliances. The assembled item looked substantial so I inwardly thought the inclusion of only one napkin would turn out to be optimistic.

I was right as it proved to be a messy proposition, but it was really quite satisfying. The roll itself was on the stale side, but the filling more than made up for its shortcomings. The egg was particularly well judged with the yolk nicely bright and soft, but not too tie-threateningly runny.

So overall, while Delish isn’t the most smartly appointed place in town it does serve tasty fare. I was impressed by the generous portions on offer. If the roll had been just a touch fresher I would have been really quite impressed with the place.
