Global

Until today, Global had been one of those places that I strode past when on my way somewhere else, going “I must remember to visit there, one day”. Aside from a quick trip to sample their espresso, a few months ago, today was my first proper visit.

Almost before I was through their door, I’d made my selection, as there was a low-hanging mention of a Mexican chicken wrap. That took my fancy immediately, so the chirpy counter woman was soon preparing that for me, from the deli items before her.

Bringing together spicy chicken, guacamole, chunky salsa, cheese, and chilli sauce, this looked a well-stocked item as it was transferred from the chopping board to the grill, to lightly toast it. It took a little moment longer to toast than expected, but that turned out to be good news.

Those extra few minutes of cooking made the wrap very light and crisp, and what a difference it made. The filling was indeed profuse and quite tasty, but it was the beautifully crisp shell that will live on in the memory.

So overall, I was impressed with the care and attention being applied to the preparation of the dishes at Global. Their little takeout shop does brisk business, but they seem very keen to take their time and make sure things are just right. I’d definitely come back for another visit, so look forward to trying some of the other things on their menu.
