Eastern Cuisine

Eastern Cuisine has long been my late night Chinese takeout of choice, entirely due to its proximity to my abode. Down the years, it has been a little variable in quality, but has recently been proving fairly reliable.

I tend to favour ordering a noodle dish and one other item, depending on how hungry I’m feeling. I have a slightly grubby predilection for morning-after spring rolls, as a hangover cure, so if the evening’s events have featured a heavy programme of imbibing, they’re the usual choice.

On this occasion, I was in fine shape after a restrained evening, so decided to match some hot and sour soup with their special house chow mein.

The shop was doing its usual brisk trade, but my items were quickly with me, so soon enough I was home and preparing to tuck in.

The hot and sour was intensely hot and sour, so fulfilled the brief very nicely. It was generously packed with tasty morsels, too, so I was happy with it.

The chow mein wasn’t quite so good, with some of the slices of duck a little sad and grey. The noodles were grand, though, so it did the job.

So overall, Eastern Cuisine is unlikely to set the heather alight, but it’s a perfectly serviceable late night takeaway. I’ll continue to avail myself of its services, and am optimistic it will continue to provide me with reliable fare.
