BaGet Stuffed

My acute observation skills were once more to the fore, the other day, when I originally attempted to find BaGet Stuffed, after MJ had spotted it from the bus. I ended up at Bonnington’s after walking clean past my intended stop. I questioned its existence, but was reassured that its lack of observable presence was user error on my part.

Exterior

I managed to engage the appropriate senses, today, spotted the place, and was soon contemplating a wide selection of items, from their chalkboard.

The counter men were as friendly as you’ll find, full of helpful and cheery banter, keen to ensure that they made your dishes to your specification, and full of sunny smiles to match the gorgeously temperate day.

Soup

I opted for a toasted hummus and falafel wrap, to go with my soup, which today was chickpea, lentil and spinach.

I had a gloriously sun-kissed stroll back to work, with lunch items in hand.

The food didn’t quite live up to expectations, sadly. The wrap was a bit of a tough eat. The balance wasn’t right, so while each bite had reasonable flavour, it was all a bit dry, with the wrap itself rather too chewy.

Wrap

The soup was better, if a little under-seasoned. The counter man did ask if I wanted salt and pepper added, so I should have nodded along to that question, but I’m generally loathe to season before tasting. I had salt and pepper to hand, though, so things were soon back on track. The soup was nicely made and had good flavour combinations, so smiles were restored after the less auspicious wrap.

So overall, BaGet Stuffed will go down in my memory as a really friendly place that needs to work on their food, to bring it up to the standards that their welcome suggests might be on offer. They’re located in quite a competitive area for sandwich takeaways, so they’ll need to up their game a little, to carve out a sustainable niche.

Interesting review, as a food lover myself and being known to be particularly fussy over service, quality of food and hygiene, I beg to differ! I think it is unfair to critic a deli which had only at the time been open two months (since review) I have been to baget stuffed on several occasion as I was extremely Impressed with customer service, acknowledgement when entering the premises. The level of hygiene is exceptional and even if there is something you want that is not on the menu they are willing to make it for you, what I loved most is there alternative produce for people with allergies ie lactose free items! I love there policy of let us make it right if like it great if you don’t let us fix us as they want all customers to leave happy! I think you ought to give it another go!

Thanks for the comment, Izzy. I agree that the service at BaGet Stuffed is impressively friendly and accommodating. I didn’t particularly rate the food, but I’m glad to hear that things have developed positively since my visit. I will try to get along for another visit, soon :-)
