Annakut

I’d heard some strong reports in Indian vegan and vegetarian specialist Annakut so was keen to visit while I was staying on this side of the city.

They serve their full a la carte at lunchtime. It features dishes with a multi-region Indian approach with a number of dishes from Kerala, Gujarat and Punjab.

I spotted that they offered a thali selection which suited my slightly indecisive mood.

On the traditional compartmentalised metal tray, I was soon presented with potato and aubergine pakora with coriander and spinach dip, chickpea curry, daal makhani, paneer makhani, rice, naan, poppadom and salad.

The pakora were crisp and satisfying with the verdant green sauce very good. The chickpea curry was excellent, and the creamy black daal superb. The paneer makhani was a little sweet for my palate but was still well crafted.

The naan was very good, too, with the rice simple and plentiful. It was a really impressive selection which was topped off with good freshly made kheer for dessert.

Overall, I was extremely pleased by the fare on offer at Annakut. Their thali is one of the best I’ve come across and would strongly recommend it to you. I look forward to many future visits.
