Even by my own standards of early arrival in Glasgow, it was bloody early when I stepped of the train, today. What’s more, I wasn’t overly blessed with time, as I had another short train journey to complete on my way to the salt mines. I popped to nearby Food Fillas for a speedy breakfast roll.

At the Royal Exchange end of Ingram Street, Food Fillas is a little greasy spoon cafe. The interior is simple with some nice detailing. I liked the sign about today’s menu having two choices: take it or leave it.

I was in the mood for a hearty roll, so opted for a doubler of bacon and black pudding topped with brown sauce. This was cooked to order and swiftly delivered by the friendly counter women.

Encased in one of those classic crisp morning rolls, it proved a satisfying eat, with the ratio between roll and filling very well judged. It set me up nicely for my onward journey.

So overall, I enjoyed my swift stop at Food Fillas. It struck me as a reliable little spot with a good twist of humour about what they were doing. I’d be happy to visit again.
