My tour of places that have opened during my absence from Edinburgh continued with a quick stop at Fortuna Coffee Bar on Queen Street.
Just a couple of doors down from Panda & Sons, I think the space is newly converted hospitality premises or at least I can’t remember there being anything like this there before.
The interior is fresh and contemporary in a familiar coffee shop style.
I was visiting during the middle of the morning so it was good to see the place quite well populated in what is often a betwixt and between lull.
My focus was on coffee but the menu – soups by Union of Genius, fresh sounding sandwiches – looked to hold good options for a light bite.
I tried their espresso which used beans from Machina. It was delivered to a very good standard in stylish crockery.
Fortuna Coffee looks to be starting life from a good place. Unusually for the style of place it is licensed with a small menu of local bevvies. During February, all coffees are £2 to tempt folks out from their winter slumber. Make sure to give it a look over the coming weeks.
