Coffee & Drinks in Lyon

Lyon is an excellent city for wandering around so I managed to see a quite a few different coffee places.

Near to Les Halles Paul Bocuse, I really enjoyed a smart wee place called Fluffy. It served me very good espresso and also looked like a good place for a well-priced lunch.

Near to where I was staying, Wild Travel saved me from potential starvation with a very enjoyable carrot, sweet potato and cumin soup. It also served me a very decent espresso. I had a couple of very good espressos in Le Labo, as well.

In the city centre, I ran into two very high quality operators.

Puzzle Cafe had a very recognisable aesthetic and was smashing out great espresso drinks using Mokxa beans.

And speaking of Mokxa, whose beans I saw in many places, I ran into their own cafe – Mokxa Cafe – quite by joyful mistake. It was the coffee highlight of the city serving an outstanding shot.

In terms of drinks, my pre-dinner needs were tended to each night by the outstanding team at L’Antiquaires.

With a killer drinks list blending classic with more modern classics like the London Calling and the Penicillin, this was one of the most relaxed and enjoyable drinking places I’ve found on travels. I was there each night of my trip, arriving closer to opening time with each passing day.
