Of Love & Regret
Sometimes choosing a restaurant by its name can be a fool’s errand but when Of Love & Regret was on Emely’s shortlist of places where we might find a top notch Baltimore brunch, I was confident that it would have good food to back up its splendid name.
On weekends they offer a bottomless brunch which included a range of drinks, which you could sample both bottomlessly and interchangeably, plus a main course for a sum that seemed ridiculously low, particularly given how thirsty I was. We tanned a good few keg rosés and a pretty stellar mezcal mule amongst other things.
We ate a really good array of dishes, too. This started with a couple of appetizers of freshly made pretzel with beer cheese sauce and halloumi served with dried fruit. Both were inhaled in moments and highly appreciated.
For mains, Emely had chosen their breakfast burrito with house made chorizo, I had opted for baked eggs with country ham, and Helen – who had hopped on the train from NYC to join us – had the truffle pate eggs Benedict.
While Emely quietly longed for the vegetarian banh mi burrito she usually orders – the breakfast burrito was good, but not quite so transformative as the banh mi – Helen enjoyed her rich pate toasts and I tucked in with gusto to my heartily good eggs. We were all impressed with the work of the kitchen team in putting together such excellent dishes across a broad range of styles.
Overall, Of Love & Regret left us full of love and with little in the way of regret. With a killer beer selection and well-considered drinks list, this is a highly polished all round good place to be. I’d be happy to return for another visit when I’m next in town.
