Edinburgh bars receive Class Bar Awards nominations
The Class Bar Awards nominations were announced earlier this week and it came as little surprise to see Edinburgh bars getting a bunch of recognition.
And it’s great to see a blend of old and new places given nods for these highly respected UK-wide awards.
In terms of the new, we have two bars nominated for New Bar of the Year. I missed the launch of Nauticus by a couple of weeks, but Our Beer Man was a big fan when he visited.
Kin has grown to be a real favourite with me so it was a joy to hear that they had been nominated, also. This nomination comes hot of the heels of recognition for both Jody and Sam at the SLTN Awards.
In terms of the more established places, perennial favourite The Bon Vivant has scooped two nominations. I’m sure this is greatly reassuring for owner Stuart McCluskey and the team in the week they unleash their latest venture, Lady Libertine.
Mr McCluskey also has the small matter of an Imbibe Restaurant Personality of the Year nomination to add to his impressive list of achievements. Panda & Sons is shortlisted for the Bar Team of the Year award on that list, too.
The Bon Vivant is nominated as the Class Restaurant Bar of the Year as well as for their social media presence.
Perhaps the most pleasing nomination is for Lucky Liquor Co in the cocktail of the year award. The Margherita Margarita was the last drink I sampled before leaving town, as I took flight just as the quarter 21 menu was launching.
Lucky bartender Ben Hardy’s drink brings together his love of pizza and the classic tequila sour. It is an absolute belter.
The Class Bar Awards party takes place in February next year. We wish all our nominees good fortune on the night.
