Sweetbrew

Having spent little more than 24 hours in the city, it was with a heavy heart that I said goodbye to Launceston. It’s a lovely wee place and crappy hotel aside I had a fantastic time there.

Before jumping on the bus to Hobart, I had time for a farewell breakfast at Sweetbrew, a likely looking coffee shop on George Street.

The welcome was warm and service a particular strength throughout. I paused at their counter to consider what I would eat to go with my usual espresso. I kept it pretty classic with smashed avocado on toast.

First up was the espresso which was Five Seasons’ Darkhorse blend. It was excellent. The owner came over for a chat as he said he was always keen for feedback from those ordering espresso. I assured him I was really pleased with both the beans and the quality of preparation.

The food soon arrived looking pretty good. With some smears of pesto on the side, this was brightly zingy avocado topped with seeds and feta. The toast was chunky and of very good quality. It was a splendid rendition of a coffee house favourite.

So overall, Sweetbrew served me an excellent breakfast with really good avo and some top-notch coffee. It looks to be a popular spot and it’s not hard to see why. Give it a look when Launceston lures you in for a visit.
