Hey Pizza seems like an excellent name for a pizza shop, along the lines of the distinctive “hey, beer man” calls in the stands at baseball games.
The takeaway delivery place by this name has opened on Henderson Street just opposite Harmonium and the newly opened Borough.
Having unsuccessfully tried to pop in for lunch a few days back, I instead opted for their delivery service in my final few days on Easter Road.
Their menu covers all the classic pizza bases with the odd unusual idea like a nacho pizza on their specials list.
I kept things classic with a Hawaiian and added some BBQ chicken wings for good measure. This came to around £13 once delivery had been factored in.
Things arrived within their 30 minute target delivery time looking pretty much as expected.
I started with the pizza. The base was suitably crisp but just a little lifeless. The toppings were pretty good.
The wings were solidly good, too, with the accompanying barbecue sauce quite satisfying.
So overall, Hey Pizza looks to be starting life from a good standard. There’s room to improve their dough and consequently their base but this can develop in time. Give them a chance to tweak things then give them a try.
