Crumbs of Portobello
Ah, sunshine on Portobello. All of the nostalgia of childhood visits was flooding through my veins as I headed for the first truly warm stroll along the promenade of the season, bathed in sunshine with golden sands looking just splendid.
I quickly came to Crumbs of Portobello, a long-standing coffee and snack vendor just next to the amusement arcade.
Crumbs occasionally trades from their mobile coffee truck at The Pitt, so I’d sampled their coffee before. They have a bespoke blend from Thomson’s in Glasgow.
I gave thsir espresso (£1.90) another whirl and it proved to be very good.
I find Thomson’s blends – often bespoke to the various venues they work with – to be a little hit and miss. Thankfully this was a good ‘un with pleasing fruitiness resolving to quite a creamy finish.
So overall, it was good to renew acquaintances both with a sun-drenched prom and with Crumbs of Portobello. They’re particularly dog friendly, with liver cakes available for pooches alongside their breakfast rolls and crepes for humans, so do stop by next time you’re in these parts.
