I was sad when Cappadocia closed down on Forrest Road as it had served me well down the years and at times had been my go-to late night takeaway.
I was intrigued to note the arrival of a similarly named place on one of the food delivery apps so made a note to order from there next time I had the need. This came about on a recent Saturday evening when I had painfully overindulged the previous day.
Their offering is typically broad across pizza, kebab and chip shop favourites. I consequently decided to order a kebab meat roll, small chips and a small chicken Kiev pizza with which I was highly intrigued. With delivery charges this little lot came to £15.20.
Things arrived on schedule and proved to be a mountain of food that took a couple of meals to plough through.
The donner roll was an absolute monster with a structurally sound morning roll packed with meat and drenched in garlic mayo. It was rather overwhelming.
The chips were simple and very pleasing. They were up there with the best chippy version I’ve sampled on #chipquest so far.
The pizza had an enjoyably cheesy topping and was profoundly garlicky as befitted the Kiev. The base was slightly dense but worked pretty well for eating cold the next day.
So overall, Cappadocia served me a mountain of takeaway grub which did what was required in terms of chasing away the hangover blues. I’d order from them again but would perhaps focus more on their chippy items as the chips were the standout item from this order.
