With the disappointing coffee but hearty breakfast at Bob & Bert’s in mid-digestion, I was delighted to encounter a rather promising looking parade of shops just a little further down Stranmills Road.
This included a cafe called District Coffee. It looked likely to serve me an espresso more matched to my tastes and if I’d been in the mood for an avocado breakfast I dare say it would have ably accommodated my needs.
As I crossed the threshold the welcome was immediately warm and chatty. The place seemed quite stylish.
My requirements were simple – just an espresso. All of their takeaway coffee is £2 which is a great deal for fans of milky coffee.
The beans on show were from Bailies coffee roasters – new to me, roasting locally in Belfast.
My coffee was soon with me and with further pleasantries exchanged I was on my way.
It proved a very good quality shot made to a very pleasing standard. It had good brightness and set me up very nicely for the busy day ahead.
So overall, I was glad to stumble upon District Coffee as I was in need of a good coffee. If I find myself in these parts again I will stop in for something to eat as it looked a friendly and smart place. Give it a look next time you’re in Belfast.
