After my recent scrape with Natural Born Grillers I was a bit apprehensive of wee Glasgow cafes, so didn’t have massively high hopes when I got off the train in Mount Florida in need of a breakfast roll.
I headed to Alyssa’s on Cathcart Road which looked much more promising.
A lively wee place with a pretty simple counter set-up and a few seats for sit-in customers, the welcome was friendly from the counter woman owner.
She was full of charm as she took orders and set about cooking various dishes to order. Mine was a simple square sausage and black pudding roll.
As is the way in Glasgow, the question was soft or crispy roll with my answer of course being crispy.
The item was soon with me looking a pretty hearty beast. It proved a cut above many of the other breakfast rolls I’ve had in Glasgow. The lorne in particular was very good but the black pudding was right up there, too. I enjoyed it muchly.
So overall, I was glad to find Alyssa’s in my hour of breakfast need. It served me an impressively good roll that really hit the spot, with top notch ingredients prepared to good advantage. I’d recommend it to you next you’re in these parts.
