Benugo at Waverley Gate

I’m a fairly regular visitor to the Waverley Gate building – known to previous generations as the GPO – particularly when popping in to say hi to the folks at NHS Lothian.

On a recent visit I noticed that the Galway Gourmet which previously operated their lobby cafe had closed down. They were soon replaced by Benugo. I made a note to visit to check things out.

Benugo run various cafe concessions around the place including the Museum Brasserie and the John Lewis Cafe in Glasgow. The tend to do a pretty good job.

This location is quite stylish with a simple counter and self-service bar set-up.

After catching up with an old chum, Chris, I turned my attention to what was on offer. The spiced cauliflower soup had been demolished so I opted for a salad bowl instead.

This brought together quinoa, cauliflower, feta and Persian chicken with a zhoug yoghurt dressing. It was filling and healthy and invigorating. I enjoyed it.

So overall, Benugo looks to be serving the workers at Waverley Gate in fine fashion. I enjoyed what I had and liked the feel of the place. It’s very handy for my office so I imagine I’ll pop in again from time to time.
