The first day back at work is always a bit of a struggle. I thought I was being super smart organising a day with one of my favourite projects as a joyful way to ease my way back in. I hadn’t factored in the early start to get to Ayrshire at the required hour. Accordingly, a hearty breakfast in Kilmarnock was required to rouse me from my morning torpor.
When I was previously in these parts, I grabbed a quick breakfast at the Coffee Press. A regular reader pointed out that I really should have visited WG13, a local social enterprise cafe, instead. I rectified this error today.
Right next to the train station, the place is very handily located. The cafe is very smart with some stylish booth seating.
One of the friendly counter men gave me the breakfast menu and I took up station at one of the booths and perused things.
I quickly settled upon the scrambled eggs on toast. I added a decent espresso.
The grub soon arrived looking neat and tidy. It was a really well-seasoned dish with the eggs really good. The toast was well buttered. I enjoyed it very much.
So overall, I was glad to have finally visited WG13 and found it on such good form. It’s a place I’d recommend to you next time you’re looking for diligently prepared dishes with a touch of class.
