Sea Breeze Cafe
After having been drenched in the incessant rain, I took shelter in the Sea Breeze Cafe on Leith Walk. It was early in the day so breakfast was needed while I gently steamed dry.
I’d visited an Abbeyhill cafe of the same name – apparently they’re unconnected – a while back and been impressed by their down-at-heel charm.
I wasn’t overly blessed with time so I managed to resist ordering one of their more expansive breakfast options.
Instead I settled upon an old favourite: a bacon and black pudding roll. I added an ordinary mug of builders’ tea.
The counter staff members were swiftly about preparing things to order while they tended to the needs to a busy room of customers.
My roll was soon with me looking pretty good. It proved hearty eating with two generous slices of black pudding and well-cooked bacon rashers. It hit the spot very nicely.
So overall, the Sea Breeze Cafe looks to be a good place for breakfast treats. It was a very welcome port in a considerably precipitous storm. I’ll be back when a big fry-up is next on the agenda.
