Metro Sandwich Co

There was a time that when I was in Glasgow practically all I used to write about was bacon rolls and other breakfast delights. Thankfully I’ve broadened my scope of late but it was good to return to familiar territory with a recent trip to the Metro Sandwich Co.

My requirements were pretty simple: a generously filled roll, hopefully in the good crisp Glasgow style, with just enough brown sauce to be caught in my beard and not ruin today’s tie.

The set-up is a pretty standard counter arrangement. I didn’t immediately spot the breakfast roll selection on their large board of options but the friendly counter woman soon had me on the right track.

I opted for bacon and black pudding as my filling. This was prepared to order and soon with me.

It proved very respectable eating with the bacon lightly crisped and the black pudding suitably chunky. As usual, the roll itself was the star.

So overall, Metro Sandwich did a fine job of addressing my start-of-day hunger with the minimum of fuss. Some of their lunchtime sandwich combos sounded pretty good so I suspect I’ll be back in the future to give one of them a whirl. I look forward to that.
