Leyas

On a recent flying visit to London, I had just enough time to grab a quality cup of coffee before heading into the inevitable procession of thrilling meetings.

Exterior

Just near Mornington Crescent tube station I came across Leyas, which looked like it would do the job.

A split-level premises, it exuded the requisite hipster charm and I was pleased to note they were using Mission coffee, which I first came across when Stir Coffee visited for the Festival a couple of years back.

Today’s espresso was a Finca la Malida (£2.30). I was on the go with not quite enough time to sit and sip. Things were expertly prepared by the friendly counter women.

Interior detail

I was soon on my way bathed in morning sunshine.

It proved one of the best espressos I’ve had in recent times with an excellent brightness resolving to a satisfyingly lingering finish. It was a top shot.

So overall, Leyas served me an excellent espresso to start my day on the right note. I’d be very pleased to visit again and would recommend it to you next time you’re in these parts.
