Seriously Good Venison
The Edinburgh Food Social’s monthly indoor market is now firmly on my regular cycle. This was my first visit to their Saturday session having previously visited on the Sundays of their weekend show.
It was good to see a good blend of new and regular people both in terms of traders and punters.
After saying hello to Laura from Pieces o Cake, my eye was caught by the Seriously Good Venison stall.
The Perthshire traders are regulars at events like this but it had been a while since I’d sampled their wares.
I settled upon a venison burger topped with mature cheddar (£4.50) but couldn’t resist one of their wee pulled venison pies while the burger was cooked to order.
On the recommendation of the friendly counter woman I opted for the one topped with sweet potato (£1). It proved a very joyful eat.
The burger was soon ready. I took it over to the market’s seating area and ate while leaning on an accommodating pillar.
The meat was of very good quality and the cheese had really good tang. It was another winning dish that hit the spot.
So overall, Seriously Good Venison continue to deliver meaty goodness to a very pleasing standard. I’d be happy to recommend it to you next time you’re looking for a juicily gamey bite.
