I’d spotted Primal Roast on St Vincent Street on a wander back from Finnieston after lunch – was it maybe at Ox & Finch? – and made a note to give it a look when next in these parts.
A below street level cafe in similar style to nearby Where the Monkey Sleeps, I was visiting just for coffee on this occasion.
It was reassuring to see they served local roaster Dear Green. This is coffee that I regularly enjoy and value for its consistency of quality.
The friendly counter man prepared my espresso (£1.80) as I took a wander through the place noting the seating in the back. I took a seat at one of the high tables in the front.
My coffee promptly arrived and was very good. It was a bright and aromatic blend that had good balance on the palette. I enjoyed it, muchly.
So overall, I enjoyed my visit to Primal Roast. It’s not far from one of my usual Glasgow routes around town, so I look forward to calling in pretty regularly in the future. I’ll maybe give their food a try next time, so will report back on how that is.
