I’d had a tip from a barista pal that there was an impressive new cafe in Glasgow’s West End that I should check out when I got the chance. Although I’m rarely in that neck of the woods, within a matter of hours I found myself there so popped in to try Kaf on Hyndland Street.
A light, compact and airy little space, it’s configured in a very familiar way; it feels how you’d expect a contemporary coffee shop to feel.
Today’s coffee was from Edinburgh chums Fortitude which was good to see. I ordered my usual espresso (£2) and couldn’t resist adding a tempting looking pecan chocolate tart (£3).
I took a seat at a corner table and these were soon delivered to me.
The espresso was as excellent as expected, but the pecan tart caught me quite by surprise. Not having much of a sweet tooth I don’t have a huge frame of reference but it was one of the finest treats I’ve had in a long time. It was richly satisfying with a lovely balance of flavours and textures. Bravo!
So overall, I was exceptionally pleased with Kaf. It’s a knockout little cafe that makes a very compelling case for frequent and repeated visits. I’ll be stopping by whenever I’m in this part of Glasgow and suggest you do the same.
