Williams & Johnson at Custom Lane

I’d heard that local roasters Williams & Johnson had set up a permanent spot at the Custom Lane artists and creative space just near the Shore but I’d been struggling to find myself in that part of town for a visit.

Exterior and sign

When I finally did it was as part of a coffee-fuelled stretch with stops at Leith Market for Steampunk from the excellent Bearded Barista then on to say hello to the new Twelve Triangles on Duke Street.

Custom Lane is a super cool arts space. The cafe is stripped back with a washed-out aesthetic. I thought it was very smart indeed.

Espresso

The coffee on offer today was a freshly roasted Ecuadorian that was packed with fruit brightness at the front then resolved to a satisfying dark chocolate. It was extremely accomplished stuff.

So overall, I was glad to finally visit Williams & Johnson at their great new Custom Lane place. There’s some simple sweet and savoury food options in addition to their core coffee offering. Make sure to visit when you’re looking for fresh and interesting coffee ideas from this fantastic local roastery.
